week 2 – audio

tdc5184 — Wolfram Tones
I went to Wolfram Tones and picked hip hop as my style. I honestly was not sure what to expect — the idea of math generating music sounds weird. But it actually came out sounding kind of cool. It is only 15 seconds, but it has this choppy, beat-like pattern that genuinely sounds like something you would hear as a background loop in a lo-fi playlist.
What surprised me is how the visual pattern on the screen actually matches the music. The orange blocks represent the notes and rhythm, and once you know that, you start to see the beat before you hear it. It made me think differently about how music is structured, not just feeling.
I would not say it replaced a real producer — but for something generated by a math algorithm, it held its own.
tdc5254 — Make a Mix Tape
I made a pop mixtape I am calling “Window Seat”, the kind of playlist you put on when you are on a long drive or just staring out the window, doing nothing.
Here is the tracklist:
- Espresso — Sabrina Carpenter
- Stick Season — Noah Kahan
- Cruel Summer — Taylor Swift
- Locket — Gracie Abrams
- Good Luck, Babe! — Chappell Roan
- Die With A Smile — Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars
- Pink Pony Club — Chappell Roan
- After Hours — The Weeknd
- Nonsense — Sabrina Carpenter
- driver’s licence — Olivia Rodrigo
The theme is that kind of bittersweet feeling, not sad enough to cry but not happy enough to dance. Just somewhere in the middle. I tried to mix some upbeat ones in so it does not get too heavy, but the slower tracks are what tie it together.
